Napa Mini Sessions: A Single Day in Wine Country Light

As part of this fall lineup, we're offering a single day of Napa mini sessions on September 19th. These are shorter, guided sessions set against the golden hills and vineyards of Napa, a backdrop that pairs beautifully with early fall light. We only book one day for these, so spots tend to go quickly once the calendar opens.

Why Napa in the Fall

Napa in September starts to shift into something a little different than its peak summer look. The hills begin to take on a warmer, golden tone, the vineyards are heavy and full before harvest, and the afternoon light softens earlier in the day than it does in July or August. It's a short window, and it happens to line up almost perfectly with when we're able to offer these mini sessions.

What a Mini Session Looks Like

Mini sessions are shorter and more guided than a full session, built for families, couples, or individuals who want beautiful wine country portraits without committing to a full afternoon. We move through one or two locations, work efficiently, and focus on capturing a tight gallery of genuinely great images rather than an exhaustive one. It's a great option for holiday cards, an anniversary, or simply wanting updated portraits with a backdrop you won't find in Sacramento.

Our Favorite Spots to Shoot in Napa and Sonoma

Downtown Napa

Downtown Napa gives us a completely different feel than the vineyards, walkable streets, historic brick buildings, and a mix of texture that works especially well for couples and individual portraits who want something a little more urban and elegant than a classic wine country shot.

Yountville

Yountville has a quieter, more polished charm, tree-lined streets, boutique storefronts, and soft afternoon light that filters beautifully through the trees. It's one of our go-to spots for portraits that feel relaxed and elevated at the same time.

Private Wineries

When access allows, private wineries are some of the most stunning locations we shoot at all year. Rolling vineyard rows, barrel rooms, and estate architecture give us an incredible range of backdrops within a single property, often all within a short walk of each other. This is something we let our clients arrange, as it usually requires a fee or a relationship with the winery. This wouldn’t be used for mini sessions unless it was arranged by one organizer.

Private Properties

Some of our favorite fall sessions happen on private properties, family land, a friend's estate, or a rented venue, where we get full run of the space without worrying about other visitors. These sessions tend to feel the most personal, especially for families with a meaningful connection to the property itself.

Booking Your Spot

Because we only offer Napa mini sessions on a single day, availability is limited and tends to fill quickly. If you've been wanting portraits in wine country light without planning a full day trip, September 19th is the date to grab.
